Planet Earth is the only known place in the universe where life has flourished. But how did it all begin? Little Eve, a curious bear, sets out to discover the answer. Kids love this film, and adults enjoy it too. It tells the story of the planets in our Solar System, the emergence of life on Earth, and the mammals’ rise to dominance. In the Science On a Sphere, students will take a tour of the solar system and moon on a six-foot 3D globe. In the Discovery Lab, students will use hands-on activities to explore the Sun, Earth, Moon system and understand our place in space.

Students will explore what’s in their own backyard! They will discover things large and small, from the colors of the rainbow, to reasons for the seasons and the stars at night. Students will learn about the four seasons through our original interactive production of Sunny and Friends on the Science On a Sphere. Sunny the Sun and his friends, Crystal the Snowflake, Bolt the Lightning Bolt, and Leafy the Leaf, will teach students about why seasons happen, and the
appropriate clothing for the changing weather in each season. In the Digital Dome Classroom, students will watch In My Backyard and join children’s entertainer Fred Penner from TV’s Nickelodeon as he explores his backyard. Through the use of entertaining songs and immersive environments, children are encouraged to participate while learning about the planets, constellations, meteors, the moon and more. Rounding out the field trip experience, will a hands-on activity in the Discovery Lab, where students will make their own binoculars, so they can explore their own backyards.

During this fun field trip, students will see The Little Star That Could, a story about an average yellow star on a search for planets of his own to warm and protect. Along his way, he encounters other stars, learns what makes each star special, and discovers that stars can combine to form clusters and galaxies. Eventually, Little Star finds his planets, and each is introduced to audiences along with basic information about the Solar System.
In the Discovery Lab, students will have an up close encounter with all the planets in our solar system, and learn more about different kinds of stars. Everyone will also see all the planets and some fun shapes on our Science On a Sphere.

Everyone knows the story of Goldilocks and Three Bears. Goldilocks liked things “just right.” Scientists also refer to Earth as a “Goldilocks Planet,” because it’s “just right” for there to be life! As far as we know, Earth is the only planet with life. But, what makes Earth “just right?” With Perfect Little Planet in the Digital Dome Classroom, students will get a chance to discover our solar system through a different set of eyes – a family from another star system seeking the perfect vacation spot.
You can guess which planet is “just right” for their vacation. In the Discovery Lab, students will learn more about the solar system through a fun hands-on activity, and then learn all about Earth’s systems in an interactive Science On a Sphere program.
